Building a skincare routine
Selecting the right products to create a natural skincare routine that's suited to your skin's needs can be overwhelming. There are many products and potential combinations, so we've broken it all down here for you.
STEPS TO FOLLOW
These are the three basic steps that should be included in any skincare routine:
STEP 1
Cleanse and / or exfoliate
STEP 2
Tone and hydrate
STEP 3
Moisturize with serum, cream and / or salve
What you will need
Here are the types of products that can be used in a daily routine:
Cleanser
A cleanser is used day and night to remove dirt, sweat and makeup and can have other benefits such as to soothe and hydrate.
Exfoliator
An exfoliator is used a few times a week to gently resurface the skin, remove rough patches and barriers to absorbing hydration.
Toner
Toner is a liquid applied after cleansing. It adds another layer of hydration and helps skin to absorb a moisturizer applied afterwards.
Serum
Serum is a concentrated hydrating fluid that absorbs deep into the skin, and can be worn alone or layered under a lotion or cream.
Face Cream or Lotion
A face cream or lotion provides a protective layer on the surface. It seals in hydration from a toner and serum in the skin.
Salve
A salve is a concentrated, intensive moisturizer in a solid balm form. It deeply hydrates and protects skin from the elements.

Types of Skin
Putting together a routine can be very personal and typically begins by taking note of your skin's hydration levels. Consider if you fit into one of the following categories:
Dry or Mature
May experience a tight or pulling feeling, rough patches and flaking
Normal
Comfortable feeling, no excess dryness or oil production
Combination
Can experience slight dryness and/or oiliness in different areas
Oily
Tendency to produce quite a bit of oil all over the face and no tight or dry feeling is present
Once putting together a routine, you will notice which products work best for you and how much or little of each you need to use in order to have your skin feel comfortable and hydrated.
The following chart shows which of our products are best suited for each of the skin types listed above:
